Who am I?
I am a graduate of Marietta College class of 2014 with degrees in Economics,Music, and most recently-Music Education(Fall 2016). My student teaching placement as part of my degree requirements was spent in grades 7-12 choral in the Perry Local School district. I have been enthralled by the challenges and opportunities presented to me during my time developing the skills necessary to provide my students with a successful enjoyable music education. During my time in Marietta, I held leadership positions throughout various departments on campus as well as received Academic scholarships through both the Department of Business/ Economics and the Hermann Fine Arts: Music Department. Further, I was actively involved with service projects and trips in our community and others through the Bernard P. McDonough Center for Business and Leadership. |
Before teaching full time, I completed an internship with the Walt Disney World Resort as a children activities cast member at the Caribbean beach resort. I also served as Director of Choral ministry at St.Andrews United Methodist Church in Parkersburg, WV. I rehearsed and conducted the church choir during the academic year and spent my summers filling numerous roles in Mills River, NC at Camp Highlander. While at camp, I have filled the role of Drama counselor, Head of Arts, Cabin Counselor, Director of Evening Programs, and and currently the Assistant Program Coordinator. Being a part of music and the Arts year round has created a very fulfilling life for me!
Most recently, I am proud to be moving into my third year of teaching in the Northwest school district in Canal Fulton, Ohio.
As director of Middle School vocal music, I run all 6 middle school ensembles which include 5th grade choir, 6th grade choir, 7th grade choir, 8th grade choir, women's ensemble, and men's ensemble. I am also the director of both the high school women's ensemble and the women's acapella group-Vocal Muse. During my time at Northwest, I have started three of the 6 middle school ensembles listed, an ultimate Frisbee league, developed a drama department that includes a fall play and spring musical concert as well as create the first high school all women pop acapella group. This variety of choral work has provided me the ability to broaden my "rehearsal toolbox" and develop my own culture within the classroom. |
